The Australian Government is calling on retired, part-time and under-employed health care workers to lend a hand to support the health workforce and the Australian community.

We will match your skills and preferences with suitable services, prioritising sectors and communities that need help most, across health care, aged care and Indigenous health.

We are making it as easy as possible for you to work in health and aged care by:

  • cutting red tape.
  • fast tracking recruitment processes.
  • helping people refresh their skills in areas such as PPE and infection control.

You can put your skills and passion to work, and help contribute to managing the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Before you complete the expression of interest (EOI) you should ensure you are eligible to apply.

Minimum requirements

Professional registration

As a minimum you need to be registered in your health profession. This includes people on Ahpra’s pandemic subregister.

If you are unsure of your registration status you can check using Ahpra’s registration checker. Take note of your registration number.

Up to date with COVID-19 vaccination

For placement, all applicants need to be up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations in line with the requirements of the state or territory in which they wish to practise.
