01/01: Reviews
Reviews

I changed the title of my column, sneaky huh?

Changed it for a couple of reasons. Firstly, only writing about what we are doing on INfront is pretty boring. Sure - it's nice to know what we are doing, but if I was to write about how we are building the forum from scratch and the process behind how we have coded it you would be 'meh, whatever...'. We can tell you guys about those kind of upgrades in other ways.

The second reason for changing it is we wanted to give this idea for a column a run in Talk before dedicating an entire section to it, see if people liked it and we could get companies on board. If it fails something vicious, not so embarrassing.

The column is called 'Reviews' which is pretty straight forward really. We have been asking various companies for product so we can road test stuff that you and I both use on a daily basis. Give it a run down, pros and cons type of thing, then post photos of our adventures on the way.

First one coming up is a laptop bags, the criteria is:

• A laptop bag one can carry around all day and your shoulder/back won't hurt like buggery
• Fits at least a 15" laptop and all the other junk one needs when freelancing and going to meetings
• Is stylish enough you won't be laughed at on the bus or in the office
• Is under $250.00

We have 3 companies on board and product is on it's way. Stay tuned for updates.

In the meantime... if you have any ideas of what you would like us to review (be it products, courses, applications etc) let us know in the comments and we will do our darnedest to make it a reality.

Second on the sunglasses.

I'd personally like someone else to be the guinea pig about what sort of coffee straight out of the tin is best late at night, since I don't want to kill myself off by some sort of nescafe poison.

But in all seriousness I would personally like to know probably about the small (or large) differences between CS4 and CS5 to see if it worth upgrading so soon. Specifically for PS or ID. Sure there's all sorts of reviews of that on the net but I dunno, knowing other designers are testing it would make me trust the review more I think.
