Holiday reading
posted in Music, by Stan Lee on 01st January 2012
How to make gravy - Paul Kelly's so called mongrel memoir, has sat on my bedside table for the best part of a year. It's been my constant companion throughout the Xmas to New Year period. What I thought would be a typical music industry book turned out to be anything but.
Kelly share his thoughts and experiences on living a creative life, writing. travel, family and, believe it or not, dark and forgotten moments in Australian history. It's a big call I know, but I think this book should be on school reading lists. It's just been released in paperback and I suggest you go get a copy for yourself. Just don't go leaving it on your bedside table for a year like I did.

Sugar Mountain 2012
posted in Art, Events, Music, by Damien Aistrope on 23rd November 2011Last year I had the pleasure of attending Sugar Mountain, a arts and music festival in its first year down in Melbourne. I can honestly say its been one of my favourite festival experiences ever. Amazing venue, great crowd, excellent art on display and a killer line-up made it a fantastic day with my crew. Back again for 2012 it looks to be no different - a truly diverse array of artist and musicians across various fields all put together by the fabulous creative director Pete Keen. The list is too long to chuck into a post so I'm going to point you in the direction of the website and show you the works of Ben Barretto. Buy tickets now. Check out their Soundcloud mix too for a taste of music.

The TEN10 exhibition presents us with the extremely interesting concept of pairing ten visual artists with ten musicians from the same city and challenging them to create a short film piece.
The resulting productions is ten uniquely individual films in which the collaborators explore the natural relationship shared between sound and image.
TEN10 is bound to be an surreal experience and is not to be missed. The exhibition will first hit Lightspace in Brisbane on June 24th with further shows to be announced in the near future.
