Australia's latest super group is Tropical Fu*k Storm - featuring Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin from The Drones / the Nothing Butts; Erica Dunn from Mod Con / Palm Springs / Harmony; and Lauren Hammel from Fear Like Us / High Tenno.
God-damn, their combined projects are a big chunk of Australia's current exceptional music output so Tropical Fu*k Storm as a collective are, not surprisingly, creating some very cool tunes themselves.
They just arrived back in town from their Homeric American tour (alongside pals King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard and Band Of Horses) to drop a new 7" on your ears. ‘Soft Power' is single #2 in a series of limited-edition 7" releases, with 'Chameloeon Paint' kicking things off in September. As with all of the 7 inches Montréal artist Joe Becker has provided the original cover art.
According to TFS,  ‘Soft Power’ is a breakup song. The accusers, The People of Earth, are finally kicking their abusive ex-lover (the USA) to the curb. Both singles have been accompanied by filmclips, the latest is filmed by Adam Donovan in the Terrorplex, Little Rock, Arkansas, and edited by Defero Productions.
You can catch them on their latest tour on the handful of dates that haven't already sold out - Polyester Records (16 Nov) and The Gasometer (30 Nov) for Melbourne-ites, The Lansdowne (26 Nov) for the Sydney-siders and Golden Plains (10/11/12 March) for all you festival hounds.
