1 - I see you recently got home from bombing the street of Hackney (London). Any chance you have a good yarn to weave which wasn't featured on your site: funskull dot com?
This was the second time I have been to London this year, the first was a quick trip I did with my wife. I painted two spots in one day. One was on an old disused train and the other was the side of an off-license. As it turns out, the second time round I found out the off-license spot was actually an illegal spot. Funny what you can get away with during the day time…
2 - How was the show at Zero Cool Gallery? You move some units?
The show with Zero Cool was fun. I guess it wasn't just about the show though. A couple of the other artists were flown out to exhibit, but also to paint a series of walls around London alongside the other members of the Zero Cool family. Lucky for me it was sunny every day so I managed to get a lot done.
3 - I see Reka is heading back OS - is this something you aspire to do? Or you kicking in Australia for the foreseeable future?
I wouldn't say no to the idea. At the moment I have no plans to move, but plenty of plans to travel back and forth from Australia. I love my home, but also love to travel so I think i'll just keep doing it this way for a while.
4 - Who are your influences?
I'm influenced stylistically by a lot of old advertising, comics, graffiti, sign-painting and much more. I bought a rad Simpsons comic on my last day in Perth… In terms of my practice and approach, the people around me have a big effect. Roach, Beastman, the Higher Ground gang among others all influence me in various ways.
5 - Given that this question was not answered above - whats your take on traditional art - prior to graffiti - does this play a role in style?
N/A
6 - What's the plans for 2012? Anything coming up that you can tell the world?
This year is about travel. I am currently at the airport coming home from Perth where I painted a couple of walls with Beastman and Kyle Hughes-Odgers. After that I'm head deep in preparing for my art show with Mishka in New York on the10th of August. The show will consist of a series of small run prints, one original painting, and a limited edition t-shirt release. After New York, myself, Beastman and Marty Routledge are launching/re-launching our next project called The Hours (stay tuned). I have a bunch of other projects lined up after that also, but you'll have wait to hear about them...
7 - Sydney - Brisbane or Melbourne and Why?
Sydney because it's my home, Brisbane for Matt Rabbidge and Mild Manners, Melbourne for painting and catching up with old friends. Each have their own individual characteristics that I have come to hold dear, but Sydney is always home.
8 - What would you cook for dinner if your hollywood heroine stopped by for a bite?
Heroin.
9 - Anyone you want to shout out to?
My wife, my brother, Beastman for passing this onto me, Creepy, Higher Ground Studio, and the guy that called me a cock head whilst painting a wall in Perth.
10 - Who do you want to pass the next Australian 10Q's onto?
Marty Routledge
