Do you have a love for comedy, marketing, strategy and the drive to work in the entertainment business? Then we’ve got the job for you. Just for Laughs Sydney is seeking an enthusiastic, organized and hard-working individual to be the Strategic Partnership Manager for our annual event.
The Just For Laughs Group is the most prestigious producer of Comedy Festivals in the world and is constantly looking at growth opportunities through innovation and acquisitions. Our annual festival in Australia, Just For Laughs Sydney, is now in its eighth year and is presented at the Sydney Opera House. The festival presents major international and Australian comedians over a week-long period in Australia’s most iconic performing arts centre.
Duration – This is a part-time position, from March 2018.
The Strategic Partnership Manager will be based out of Sydney and be responsible for developing strategies to increase revenue for the festival, increase festival brand awareness and contribute to the growth of the event. This position requires a unique combination of talent and project management, business development and leadership.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work closely with the sponsorship team to maximize all opportunities – cash and in kind.
Build/develop partnerships with key event categories such as hotel, car rental, media, etc.
Build relationships with key and strategic contracts with government and councils. Look at new opportunities for receiving financial support from local and State government.
Prepare proposals/applications/associated documentation/acquittals for grants and other funding applications.
Maintain a proactive role in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and tracking of individuals, corporations, foundations and government funding opportunities.
Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new partners.
Work with the producers to identify, develop and deliver successful revenue increasing and marketing strategies including ticketing opportunities.
Build brand awareness and create key relationships with different “influencer” groups who in turn will help drive the business.
Initiate, develop and activate marketing programs/activities to cultivate leads, build brand awareness, develop customer loyalty, increase festival profile and harvest prospects (with direct mail, customer initiatives, local sponsorships, print and OOH advertising, partnerships, strategic alliances, and media outreach).
Improve festival’s local marketing, social media presence and numbers and PR.
Develop and maintain relationships with media representatives and third-party media company partnerships working towards leveraging media in shaping the festival’s business development strategy
Find new opportunities to market and promote the festival in NSW as well as the rest of Australia.
Support sponsorship and marketing plans, ensuring that festival is delivering on its commitments to sponsors and suppliers
Develop and execute JFL Sydney’s communications and media strategy documents, outlining the organization’s media strategy, milestones, and action plans
Develop audience analytics and research information.
The successful candidate will have:
Bachelor degree in marketing and/or communications;
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
Passion for comedy &amp; performing arts
Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a broader organizational team
Enthusiasm, be self motivating and have drive. Also, determined to get results.
Ability to think creatively and maximize relationships and revenue opportunities.
Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with multiple deadlines
Excellent time management, organizational and administrative skills
Professionalism, maturity and sensitivity to confidential information
Computer and financial literacy (including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel) with the ability to design and maintain internal systems including reports, and critical paths
