We're looking for a back-end developer to help us build Australia’s first high-tech alternative to the Big Four Banks.
We’re building a digital hybrid account that sits alongside the startup banks of Europe and America (simple.com, next.n26.com, revolut.com) – designed to completely change the way you interact with your money.
About the role:
We're looking for passionate, creative people to help us invent the future of banks for this generation and the next. We're a team of five at the moment, and we expect to add a couple more this year. As a very early member of the team, you'll help out with every part of our back-end systems, including tools, server-side smarts,.and communications between our systems and our partners, such as other banks.
You’ll be joining two other developers, one of the co-founders and a iOS specialist, as well as a senior back-end developer yet to be hired.
Current back-end systems are built in Ruby, though we expect that some components of it will be written in other languages. You’d be an active participant in language discussions, as you would with all other discussions around back-end systems.
Four years or forty years experience isn't important to us, but attention to detail, taking pride in your work, and understanding how your work fits into the bigger picture are. In general we like people who are opinionated, self-motivated, care about ethics and sustainability, have broad interests and can take ownership of projects.
This is not a 9-to-5 codemonkey kind of job. It's also not a Silicon Valley startup gig that comes with a foosball table. It's a chance to create your own job, learn a ton of stuff along the way and help us craft a progressive workplace culture.
