im in the market for a Bianchi Pista. Unfortunately this one on ebay isn't located in Sydney.
Such an awesome looking bike! Much prefer the custom flat handles over the standard curved ones.

does anyone here own one?

About time there was a Bike Thread!

JubbJubb - it's a very easy move to go from drop bars to flat bars on a fixie.

We had a bike thread on the old Forum. I'd like to see what everyone's riding these days so post away guys and gals!

like the look of the pista - don't know of one for sale

the collection:
santa cruz heckler - current allround bike but set up for x country
giant tcr - commuting and triathlon
kona mano mano - 2001 model - probably a better x country bike than the heckler
a girls bike
there's also an 08 avanti hammer frame hanging there. i was going to build a hardtail but it got too expensive (as opposed to just buying one.
wouldn't mind a 29er

Do you think it would be easier or cheaper building it myself? As I see you can buy the frame on ebay for about $600...

Run drops. Drops are awesome. The bianchi pista is a good bike. It's always a shite load more expensive to build your own. Check out wiggle.co.uk too - they have a load of bikes at good prices.

I've got a stack of bikes - but the big dh bike is my new one.

Out riding with my headcam.

Hey, The bianchi is a really good bike !!!!
It's not really cheaper to buid it youself.
the good thing in building it by yourself is that you can start with really cheap part, and time after time when you have money buying better things.
That's what i did, i bought crappie frame for 60$. A friend lent me a pair of wheel. I found all the part in friends' rubbish. Then i deal a pair of wheel against the design of a bike shop blog, And last year I find a good pista frame for 200$.
Now i realise I spent a lot of money in my bike, more than if i had bought it complete.
The fixie are really expensive because it's fashionable, but actually, it's a really simple bike, you do not need a lot of parts.

I dream of this one

i bought a frame, forks and disc brakes for a total of $300. i thought i'd swap all the parts from the kona dually to make a hardtail - then build it up over the years. came unstuck when i realised i had to buy new wheels (disc ready) and the bike shop told me the forks i bought were the heaviest you can buy. worked out it was going to cost around $600 more. a second hand hardtail with the same parts was $850... grrr. still might do it just to learn. having said all that a fixie/ss would be relatively cheap to build i reckon! $100 for a bike mechanic to build once you have the parts apparently.
