Even a couple of articles I've read about it don't see it being a "market leader" since there are so many good offerings in that space, but more as an "add on" to those with iPads, Macs ...etc. Which makes sense, and would explain the big change in pricing too.

@blind I have the WD player at the moment connected to an HD alongside my amp and it rules. Looking at the new Apple TV that refreshed today because if I can stream my movies from an HD to that via WiFi then I will replace it. It's a bugger to have to connect to the HD every time to upload new content (via USB).

p.s. I realise you can also get a wifi WD gizmo so will also be considering that.

Someone should have told Steve about us poor Australians who can't afford to "stream content on demand" due to our poor speeds and small download caps :(

Fair call for those in capital cities and ADSL2+ areas, but everyone else? Australian broadband is a bit lacking IMO.

Re: streaming iTunes content, I don't understand why anyone would choose re-downloading content every time over store once and play later. Seems an un-natural way of doing things to me.

In saying that, if anyone is going to pioneer new distribution methods it's going to be Apple.

I have a PS3 and find it extremely easy to watch AVI files. All you need is Azureus Vuze.

There are quite a few tutorials about setting it up - it's really easy.

I do like the idea of Apple TV. Makes photos and music a bit more accessible than the PS3, but I can't see myself converting everythiing to mp4 to watch when I can simply drag and drop using the PS3.

I just ordered my online. Seems like a cool thing have at a reasonable price. You can stream videos from your mac as long as the format is M4V, MP4, MOV.

Only bad thing is that it will take 3-4 weeks to arrive...that kinda sucks...hehe

Fuck being forced to use certain formats. Why would you spend any money on that thing? It seriously is shit.
