Doesn't play my AVI files on my computer. I have a $50 player that does that via a USB connection wonderfully.
Doesn't record TV.
Second I'm not so fussed about, but the first = FAIL for me.

PS3 works a charm for streaming AVIs with no conversion using PS3 media server app on mac. + Bonus it also plays games ;)

I like the idea of downloading via itunes and watching at (low) HD without having to plug my damn laptop in. That's pretty much enough for me. I think I'll get one.

I can see if you use iTunes it would be beneficial. I don't.

i bought an LG bluray player from jb. $180. plays blurays (funnily enough), divx, avi, mkvs, mp3s, jpgs, youtube, and plays files from a usb drive. its pretty much the best thing ever. 1080p blurays > apple's 720p mp4s m4vs.

So you can watch movies etc..
