Kamon Coasters
Product concept, ID, packaging
Kamon are traditional Japanese motifs used as family crests that served as the inspiration for the project.
We developed the product concept, designed & produced the coasters, developed the identity & packaging. The aim was to create simple, low waste products that would last a lifetime. To that end we created packaging that used only kraft & translucent paper, rubber bands and black ink. The product itself is CNC cut from 4mm Birch plywood.
There are a total of 8 designs in 2 colours, so the packaging shows the colour and design of the coasters in that box. Tray cards give information on design style & secures each coaster from sliding around. A bellyband keeps the coaster stack secured during postage.
