Ryan Harvey started his career whilst studying photography and fine art at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design. After his first year of a 3 year degree he was offered a position at a London based still life product photography studio, where he learnt much about his trade.
“it was great fun being at an art school and mixing with a load of other creative genres, but it wasn’t really teaching me what I needed to know to become a commercial product photographer, lighting techniques, composition, work flow and how to interact with clients etc...“
Ryan graduated in 1999 and continued his work at the still-life product studio for a further two years before relocating to Sydney in 2000 to continue his career in warmer climates.
Over the years Ryan has gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in lighting still life objects and products. He applies these techniques when shooting food or people, using natural daylight as well as artificial lighting to depict the subject in a very soft, neutral, organic manner.
Ryan works from his North Sydney photography studio, using the latest digital camera systems and truly embracing the digital revolution with open arms.
