Like every design decision, the manner in which work is presented should relate to the context and intended communication outcome of the piece. If the printed matter was designed to be tactile or is a special format, perhaps showing hands interacting with it strengthens this motive.
If you're making decisions based on the work and paying close attention to the context in which it was designed for and how that is portrayed, rather than copying what you see being done around you, the end result will be a lot stronger and justifiable.
