M Seth Jones used to offer one-on-one retouching classes over Skype... he's planning an international move soon but it'd still be worth getting in touch.

RE: Carl King on 26th September 2011 @ 8.17 PM in Creative

I recently had an article written by L.A. based creative Carl King forwarded to me called 10 Myths about Introverts. http://www.carlkingdom.com/10-myths-about-introverts

I found it to be a really fascinating read and subsequently discovered that I indeed fit the bill of King's brand of "introvert" which kind of surprised me, but then... somehow not really. It was like discovering something about myself I had an inkling about but never really understood before - a bit of a personal epiphany really.

I subsequently decided to purchase his book "So you're a creative genius... now what?" after reading the first few pages and found myself hooked.

King's no bullshit approach to being a creative introvert really helped get me out of a creative slump.

I can't wait for the book to arrive!

Has anyone else read it? If so, what did you think? Did it help you?

When I work at the bench I find myself listening to heaps of Foo Fighters and Opeth lately, probably because of their upcoming tours that I'm SUPER EXCITED about.

When I work at the computer (writing, coding, whatever) I find I can't concentrate when music is playing with lyrics because I sing along and lose focus. So right now I'm all about this amazing Irish band called GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT. They have 4 albums and they're all awesome rock instrumentals.

RE: Writing up your BIOGRAPHY on 19th September 2011 @ 12.15 AM in Discussion

I *HATE* writing bios... I always feel like such a twat trying to say nice and seemingly objective things about myself.

I recently had to write a new one for a client I'm working with - minimum of 15 words - YEOWCH! Doesn't sound like a lot but it was like trying to draw blood from a stone. Luckily it ended up being suitable enough to use on my blog as well. Not quite right for my jewellery but I think it's something I can work off.
